I replied with a comment to a recent thread started by @SeanPress and the entire THREAD disappeared.
The forum is still living up to its reputation as useless, so I shouldn't be surprised.
I do not care too much regarding my reply(s) being deleted, but any dreamt up infringements in my reply(s) should NOT impinge on another user!
As usual, this forum demonstrates how NOT to build a forum!
I would appreciate it is someone could reinstate the deleted thread, even if my additions to it need to be left out as the OP needs his question reinstated.
I don't know what might have happened, but I found the thread and restored it.
I did not dig into how come the SeanPress original question was deleted, but I noticed that you had a second post in the thread that was just noise. My guess is that someone intended to delete that comment, but messed up and deleted the Question instead.
Thank you for your help. The second reply I made was an attempt to force the forum to add/display my first reply which hadn't appeared - I am a veteran to that particular foible. I had tried to edit and post the 'noise' reply once my first post had appeared but that was the point when the thread disappeared.
Oh, don't do that. The forum can certainly be slow to display the post, but it will appear eventually. Usually after a minute or so. But, yes, it's silly that the post is not displayed immediately, and leads to a lot of noise posts, not only from you.
By the way, there is a second possibility how come the thread was deleted. Still by a manual mishap, but unrelated to your post. There is quite a bit of spam coming in, and the way the spam-killing works, it can happen that you delete a legit post. I've done that mistake myself a few times.
By the way, in that thread, shouldn't your comment be an Answer so that Sean Press can accept it?

When you say 'a minute or so', it may be more than 90 minutes, and an extreme of about 300 minutes in some cases. I have had those times in the past. If the forum is ever fixed then there will be no need for the 'noisy' posts. I will not be holding my breath for the forum to be fixed though.
I will continue to post my contributions as 'comments'.
Yeah, I have my beefs with the caching mechanism as well. I happens that I get a notification for in a thread, click the link that there is only the original question. Or I ask to see the most recent post, and the top post is days old.
