Since the last update of Edge, I've had a problem. Whenever a search bar appears on any web site, a word or number automatically pops in. I've cleared cache, cookies and disabled all plugins but it still happens. Even when I use In Private browsing. Even went and reset edge to no avail. TIA!

    Suggestions:

    1.Reset Edge settings.

    2.Clear browsing data.

3.Create a new profile and see if the issue occurs there.

4.Microsoft Edge has an Autofill feature that might be pre-populating the search bars. Try turning it off:

    • Open Edge and go to Settings (three dots menu) > Privacy, search, and services.
    • Under "Autofill," disable the options you don't want Edge to remember, like "Search forms."

    Hi Steven,

Thanks for your post. Based on my research, you can try the following methods to see if you can block pop-ups in Microsoft Edge.

    1. In Edge, go to Settings and more  at the top of your browser.
    2. An image showing the Settings and more menu in Microsoft Edge.
    3. Select Settings  > Cookies and site permissions.
    4. Under All permissions, select Pop-ups and redirects.
    5. Turn on the Block (recommended) toggle.

If you continue to receive pop-ups after turning this feature on, try the following solutions:

    1. Make sure Edge is up to date: Select Settings and more  > Settings  > About Microsoft Edge . If there is an update available, you can apply it from here.

    2. Scan your device for malware:For more, see Stay protected with Windows Security.

    3. Disable your extensions: Check if an extension is interfering. Select Settings and more  > Extensions > Manage extension, then turn each extension off. If pop-ups are now being blocked, turn on extensions one at a time to determine which one is causing the issue.

    4. Block third-party cookies:To do this, select Settings and more  > Settings  > Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies and site data, and turn on Block third-party cookies.

    5. Clear your browser cache: For more, see View and delete browser history in Microsoft Edge.

    Best Regards,

    Ian Xue
