I am trying to test using Microsoft Authenticator as MFA for my work account. So, I believe the first step is to connect my work account to the Microsoft Authenticator app. In following the steps in this article, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-billing/set-up-the-microsoft-authenticator-app-as-your-verification-method-33452159-6af9-438f-8f82-63ce94cf3d29#:~:text=Sign%20in%20to%20your%20work%20or%20school%20account,select%20Add%20method%20in%20the%20Security%20info%20pane. I go to the my account portal and I sign in. Then when I click on Update Info under Security Info it redirects me to log in again, at that time, I am prompted to enter the code from my Microsoft Authenticator app. Problem is, I don't have a code, because I have not yet added the app as an MFA agent.

you need to sign in to Authenicator account the first time with MFA. assuming you did not remove your alternate MFA option, click on sign in another way. after the alternate MFA completes the account should be active.

if you deleted the other options, you will need your work admin to reset your account, or add an alternate MFA device.

    Hi Daniel,

Please reinstall the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone, and try to follow the steps from the article (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-billing/set-up-the-microsoft-authenticator-app-as-your-verification-method-33452159-6af9-438f-8f82-63ce94cf3d29#:%7E:text=Sign%20in%20to%20your%20work%20or%20school%20account,select%20Add%20method%20in%20the%20Security%20info%20pane.) again to onboard your account to the MFA.

If that doesn't resolve your issue with MFA endless loop, then you'll have to contact your IT department to reset your MFA status, so you can set up the Microsoft Authenticator app as your verification method.
