WSUS Downloads Stuck Again

Greetings,

This is the 4th month in a row we have been seeing this and it is not just me that has been seeing this. When downloading the Windows 11 update files on WSUS do they stop at about 90% the updates for Cumulative update or the latest Feature upgrade? It has been happening on 3 of our servers every month. Have you seen this? Have you fixed it?

Almost always the latest Windows 11 Cumulative Updates.

KB5040435 KB5040442 (Both 22H2 & 23H2)

And The latest Windows 11, Version 23H2 x64 2024-07B

According to Get-BitsTransfer -AllUsers | Select JobId, JobState, BytesTransferred, BytesTotal

One is showing in Error which looks to be the Windows 11 23H2 x64 2024-07B. One is Queued and the other is stuck at “Connecting”

Restarting BITS shows the same issues. One is stuck in transferring and the Latest Windows 11 Version 23H2 update is Errored direct from the MIcrosoft WSUS Servers.

This is the screenshot. Machine is direct connected to the Internet with no firewall, A/V blocking rules.

To understand and troubleshoot the cause of this behavior and errors, I recommend taking a detailed look at the WindowsUpdate.log and CBS log files after the update failure.

To collect the WindowsUpdate.log, open an admin PowerShell and type the cmdlet: Get-WindowsUpdateLog. The resulting text file will be saved on the desktop of the running user under the name “WindowsUpdate.log”.

To collect the CBS logs, go to C:\Windows\logs\CBS and review the latest logs.
