Use of images created using the Azure OpenAI Service image generation API (DALL-E),

Please tell me about the rights and prohibited matters.

Usage rights: Can I use it commercially? Can I redistribute it?

Ownership: Do the generated images belong to the user?

Copyright: Of course you need to check for copyright infringement, right?

I would appreciate it if you could let me know if there are any terms of use or conditions documents that cover this topic.

Thank you.

Aoshima, Kanta/青島 寛太 Greetings &Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum!

Please tell me about the rights and prohibited matters.

You can find more information on Code of conduct for Azure OpenAI Service page.

Usage rights: Can I use it commercially? Can I redistribute it? Ownership: Do the generated images belong to the user? Copyright: Of course you need to check for copyright infringement, right?

As per my understanding, you can use the images generated by OpenAI DALL·E commercially but it depends on the terms of use. Please see Customer Copyright Commitment Required Mitigations, Transparency Note for Azure OpenAI Service for more information.

Note that, the image generation APIs come with a content moderation filter. If Azure OpenAI recognizes your prompt as harmful content, it doesn't return a generated image. For more information, see Content filtering.

I hope this helps. Do let me know if you have any further queries.

Hello Aoshima, Kanta/青島 寛太, please find my responses below.

    1. Usage rights - You are allowed to use the images commercially and redistribute them. This includes the right to reprint, sell and merchandise the images
    2. Ownership - Subject to the Content Policy and Terms, you own the images you create with DALL-E. This means you have the rights to the images, including commercial use, regardless of whether the image was generated through a free or paid credit
    3. Copyright - AI-generated images, such as those created by DALL-E, are not protected under copyright because they are not considered to be the work of a human creator. However, it's important to use the service in compliance with the Content Policy and ensure that the prompts you provide do not infringe on any copyright
