Hello,

Is it possible to activate data dedup on a Windows Server Failover Cluster with File Server Role with no problem ?

I have 2 windows 2022 server Virtual Machines with RDM disks. The cluster is already installed and configured.

If so, do I need to configure deduplication on all my disks on my 2 servers ?

Thank you for your advice,

Regards.

    Hey,

Yes, it is possible to enable Data Deduplication for the drive, which is used for File Server. The following guide covers the configuration: https://robertsmit.wordpress.com/2018/02/21/clustering-fileserver-data-deduplication-on-windows-2016-step-by-step-sofs-winserv-refs-windowsserver2016-dedupe/

As for disks, it depends on which disks do you want to use for file server. Might also help with cluster configuration: https://www.starwindsoftware.com/resource-library/starwind-virtual-san-for-hyper-v-2-node-hyperconverged-scenario-with-windows-server-2016/
