Why can't I create a Teams Channel?

I am logged in to Micrsoft 365 and teams with my own personal email. I am currently part of a client's Teams as a guest. Why is it that I am unable to create other Teams channels? Example even if its to include other people that are not from the client's company. Thanks

If I read you right; you wanted to be able to create an Organization then be able to create channels under it for your own use.

Logoff from Microsoft.com if you're logged on. Clear your browsing cache then close your browser completely down.
Open your browser up again then head over to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/microsoft-teams/group-chat-software?rtc=1
Click sign up for free.
Login with your credential.
If it ask you what type of usage; select work or organization. If you pick others; you will be prompted to use Skype I believe. Click next.
Input your company name; for this example; I'm going to use Home as my company name. Click Next.
It might prompt you to launch Team. Continue using the web browser then enter your password if being prompted. Click Sign-In.
It will start to create your Team Organization. Once it's complete; you should have the opportunity to create Channels etc outside of your (Guest) Team Organization.

If the above steps does not help; you might have to drop off the channel that invites you as a guest then follow the instruction above again. You can always have them reinvite you after you setup your teams organization.

The owner of the Teams Organization needs to grant you the privileges to create a channel. This is turned off by default.

thank you! sorry for the potentially stupid question... But is it not possible for an individual user to create a Teams Org? Only businesses can do this? for further context: I bought Microsoft office 365 Personal, signed up with my gmail address. What can i do with Teams in this case? thanks alot

This feature is controlled by Teams owner. You can refer to the following image.

Dear Sharon, I'm still not really getting an answer to my question.. let me phrase again so I explain better.

I have a Microsoft 365 Personal subscription, associated with my personal gmail.

I have been added as a guest to Company X's Teams Channel. Now when I log into to Teams, the only option for me to select is "Company X (Guest)"

My question, is Team's set up such that I cannot use create my own Teams Organization (For example I want to have a Teams with my Family). I can't seem to be able to use Teams outside of this Guest channel.

@Lydia Quek I have a similar query and the answer given above did not resolve it. I would like to set up a Teams Channel to deliver training. The option doesn't come up in Teams for me to do this but I can log into channels where I am a guest.

Can you/anyone help?
