managed instance link between 2 managed instances

Hello,

We have databases running on Azure SQL Managed Instance. We would like to move this database instance to another resource group without any interruption. We are considering using the managed instance link for this purpose.

My question is: Does the managed instance link work between two managed instances?

MI Link does not work explicitly as a feature for moving data, but we have Database Copy & Move functionality: Copy or move a database - Azure SQL Managed Instance | Microsoft Learn

We want to migrate our managed instance along with all its databases while ensuring minimal downtime. We are unable to utilize the copy/move option due to the following reasons:

Stopping the managed instance before migration results in significant downtime due to the time required for copying all data.

Continuing migration operations without stopping the managed instance leads to potential data loss.

We need to copy data near-real time, after that we can make migration operations with minimal downtime.

Please advise on the best approach to achieve this migration with minimal impact on our operations.
