Failed to start virtual machine 'adidas-app'. Error: Allocation failed. We do not have sufficient capacity for the requested VM size in this zone.

All our VMs are in West US 3 and we don't have an option to move them other Regions.

We would like to know when we can start again our VMs. Is there a date or forecast?

Thank you!!!

    Hi Fabiano,

What you can do is switch to a different VM SKU, start you VM, and then periodically attempt to create Capacity Reservation for B2ms in West US 3 Zone 1. Once your capacity reservation successfully creates, then there is good chance that you can resize your VM back to B2ms.

In my experience you should have more luck creating a capacity-constrained SKU during off-peak hours for West US 3. Not a 100% guarantee, but has worked for me before.

    Thanks.

Impact Statement: Starting at 16:53 UTC on 17 July 2024, you have been identified as a customer using Virtual Machines in West US 3 who may receive error notifications when performing service management operations - such as create, delete, update, scaling, start, stop - for resources hosted in this region.

Workaround: We see that failures were observed as the capacity is constrained for the requested VM types in this region. We recommend East US2, Canada Central where we have capacity available. Retries may be successful.

Current Status: Allocation failure rates are consistently decreasing due to our internal load balancing and capacity reclamation efforts. We're also actively restoring healthy buffers by bringing previously offline clusters back into operation. To ensure regional capacity remains stable, we will continue to monitor the situation closely. Further updates will be provided on 24 July 2024, or sooner as events warrant.
