Tengo un portátil con una NPU de hasta 10 TOPS y he leído que Copilot+PC tiene una NPU de 40 TOPS. ¿Las funciones de Copilot estarán limitadas en mi ordenador o directamente no estarán presentes?

    Hi David,

Thanks for your post. Generally speaking, NPU (Neural Network Processing Unit), NPU is designed specifically for accelerating AI applications, through processors that mimic the human neural system. It is energy-efficient, suitable for long-term use, and ideal for continuous AI computational tasks, such as image generation, face recognition, etc.

If you have lower NPU than Copilot recommended,  it cannot running the system as expected. Even though it can be started, it might be hang or crashed when working, just as CPU’s performance. Therefore, Copilot+ PCs must deliver at least 40 NPU TOPS.

    Best Regards,

    Ian Xue

The Copilot+ PC is designed to provide best-in-class AI experiences, and it has specific hardware requirements to achieve this. One of the key requirements is an NPU (Neural Processing Unit) capable of at least 40 Trillion Operations Per Second (TOPS) 12. Since your laptop has an NPU of up to 10 TOPS, it does not meet the minimum requirement for a Copilot+ PC.

This means that some of the advanced AI features and functionalities that are available on Copilot+ PCs may not be present or may be limited on your computer. For example, features like Recall, Cocreator, Windows Studio Effects, Live Captions, and automatic super resolution are specifically designed to leverage the high processing power of a 40 TOPS NPU.
