Can't enable Bitlocker

I am working on a client's laptop and can't get Bitlocker enabled. Whenever I try to enable it, I get a generic "An operations error occurred" message as soon as I start the wizard. The laptop is a Surface Laptop 4 and has a 2 GB recovery partition, and Windows RE is enabled. The other laptops I am working on can get Bitlocker with no issues. There is also nothing in the event viewer system logs, the bitlocker API, or the bitlocker drive preparation tool logs. I am stumped on this one, and I would like to avoid reimaging the machine.

    Hi,

Please first ensure that the TPM (Trusted Platform Module) is enabled and functioning correctly. You can do this by pressing Windows + R, typing tpm.msc, and pressing Enter. Verify that the TPM status is ready for use.

Make sure that the BitLocker service is running. Press Windows + R and run services.msc. Look for the BitLocker Drive Encryption Service and ensure it is set to Automatic and running. You can also try restarting the service manually.

If the issue persists you can reinstall the TPM Driver. Sometimes, reinstalling the TPM drivers can help. Open Device Manager, find the TPM device, right-click, and select Uninstall. Then, restart the laptop and let Windows reinstall the drivers.

    Best Regards,

    Ian Xue
