When filtering using the Filter By available on column headings, it works as expected:
When filtering in the Filters pane, it works fine right away. But after a few minutes something happens with the value options. They appear twice when you press Show all, and it is no longer possible to filter the data in the list as expected. You must explicitly choose one of the values indicated by the GUID.
Note: This applies to all users, but for my SharePoint Service Administrator it works as expected.
