Ensure that there are no unsupported routes, such as a 0.0.0.0/0 route to a firewall being advertised via BGP, which can affect the Application Gateway subnet and verify that subnet-to-subnet communication is allowed where the Application Gateway and other resources are present.

Check the Application Gateway resource deployment logs and resource activity logs for more detailed error messages. look at the provisioning logs and audit logs for any errors or warnings related to the Internal Server Error.

The error might be transient. Azure services often retry operations automatically, but you can also manually retry the operation after a short period

Is the issue still happening?

Are you trying to deploy a new application gateway or trying to update an existing one

May I know where exactly are you getting this error?

via Portal

or via Powershell/CLI/Bicep/Terraform ?

Can you share a screenshot of the complete error?

And also, please review the activity logs and share what error you are facing
