How to restore accounts in Authenticator on Android phone?

Hi,

A few months ago, I changed my Android phone. My previous phone is also Android and all my apps were successfully copied over. One of these apps is Microsoft Authenticator.

After launching Authenticator, I saw that all the websites I had there in my previous phone had disappeared. One of these websites is Facebook. Now, I can't log in to Facebook because I have to enter a code from Authenticator after keying in my password for Facebook on the website.

I have written to Facebook Support to ask if they could remove 2FA and give me another way to access my FB account.

But I am hoping that there is a way of recovering the websites that I had on my old phone’s Authenticator. (I had to do a factory reset on my old phone, btw, so Authenticator is no longer installed in my previous phone.)

I am using an Honor 90 Lite phone with Android v13. My Authenticator app is updated as of the last update on 25 June 2024. I have cloud backup turned on this phone but I can't remember if I had activated this feature on my previous phone.

Hope someone can help? Thank you!

    Hello Jacqueline D,

Unfortunately, if you do not have access to your old authenticator you already started the correct process, which is contacting the accounts support team. E.g Facebook. which you already did.

They can assist you in fixing this. same applies for the other accounts in authenticator

You can mark it 'Accept Answer' and 'Upvote' if this helped you

    Regards,

    Abiola
