After an update, my Function keys no longer perform as shown on the key. I want to return their function to their original function.

    Hi Carl,

Thanks for your post. Based on my research, we have experienced similar issue that is because it's Fn + ESC to lock 2nd function, basically reversing the function itself. Can you check if Fn + ESC works for you?

If not, generally speaking, this setting is normally in your BIOS, rather than in Windows Shut your system down When your system starts, on the manufacturers logo, you should see text like 'Press F2 to enter setup', it may be another key like DEL, F11, etc. Once in BIOS, look for Function key settings, you should see something like FN key emulation. Then try to change that setting and see if it can resolve this issue.

    Best Regards,

    Ian Xue

First, look for the "Fn Lock" key (often shared with Esc or F1). Press Fn + Fn Lock to toggle the function key behavior.

Enter the BIOS and look for an option related to "Function Key Behavior" or "Function Key Mode."

Change the setting from "Multimedia Key" to "Function Key" if it's not already set to that.

Dell QuickSet utility helps manage function keys and other hardware-specific functions.

Go to the Dell Support website and download the QuickSet utility for your model.

Install the utility and restart your laptop.
