We want to use this docker image in our product's edge deployment which would run on customer's machine (Host OS: Windows server 2016).
However a section of the license text (found inside the docker container) also indicate that the software shall not be used for any commercial or revenue-generating activities.

  1. SCOPE OF LICENSE. The software is licensed, not sold. Microsoft reserves all other rights. Unless applicable law gives you more rights despite this limitation, you will not (and have no right to):
    a) work around any technical limitations in the software that only allow you to use it in certain ways;
    b) reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the software;
    c) remove, minimize, block, or modify any notices of Microsoft or its suppliers in the software;
    d) use the software for commercial, non-profit, or revenue-generating activities;

In addition to this above license also indicate that the software is of pre-release version which has been clarified here to be not relevant for latest version (i.e. 1.3).

In view of this, may you please help me with following questions -

  • Is there a commercial version of this as well? if yes, where can I find that from ?
  • May I get an updated license txt to submit to my internal sw clearance team?

I am asking this explicit question so as not to run into any license obligation issues at a crucial time in my project later. Thanks.

    Hello @Hemant Jain , Thanks for posting this query over here.

    As we stated earlier in the related Github issue, the Microsoft product team is working to update the license text file in the upcoming release.

    The pre-release statement is only for preview build and not for GA build.
    We don’t have any other license text. We take the feedback, and will update it in our next release.
    1.3 is the latest version that is available today for “Azure blob storage on iot edge”.
    When you use the tag “latest” it should download the latest version available.
    Yes, “Azure blob storage on iot edge” for Windows AMD64, Linux AMD64 and Linux ARM32 is generally available for production workload.
    Linux ARM64 is still in public preview. You can find the information in the module pre-requisite document section, and is consistent with the iot edge support.
    Currently, the customers are expected to stay current with latest releases, same as iot edge platform releases.

    Please comment below if you need further clarification on this matter.
