Migrating from Log Analytics to Monitor Agent

Hi,

The following link mentions that Log Analytics will be deprecated and is to be replaced by Monitor Agent:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/agents/azure-monitor-agent-migration

It says it's for Windows and Linux machines, in Azure and non-Azure environments, on-premises and other clouds. (VM insights)

I was wondering does this affect all Log Analytics workspaces or just the ones that ingest VM insights? My company currently has a few Log Analytics workspaces, but none are used to populate VM insights.

If it affects all Log Analytics workspaces, how do I determine where the source of the data it ingests?

Jason

This change doesn't affect the workspaces (at least not directly) - it does affect how logs are delivered to the workspaces. Rather than using the Logs Analytics agent, you now use for this purpose Azure Monitor agent (via DCRs/DCEs)

    Details at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/agents/azure-monitor-agent-data-collection
