Windows 10 - Temporary deactivation of Screen Saver while presenting.

I need a good solution for temporarily deactivating the Screen saver on our Windows 10 laptops in generel.

We are enforcing the Screen saver settings the usual way using GPO's:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Desktop]
"ScreenSaveActive"="1"
"ScreenSaverIsSecure"="1"
"ScreenSaveTimeOut"="900"

That is course working fine. But the problem is that in Presentation Mode in Windows Mobility Center, the field 'Turn off the screen saver' becomes greyed out, when the above registry settings is present.

The only solution I've found so far is to give the users a reg file disabling the screen saver(It will of course be re-applied by GPO at next logon).

My question is if someone has a better solution?

    Hi,

    Sorry for it doesn't work. I haven't found a method to make "Turn off the screen saver" usable. But if you can use third-party apps, this app Keep Display On will prevent screensaver from starting as long as it is running. I have tested it on my PC and it works well. When Windows warns you that it's from unknown publisher, just run anyway if you can. This app can also be minimized so it doesn't affect your presentation.

    If I find the way to make "Turn off the screen saver" usable, I will post it here.

    Hi,

    I found a link which might be helpful. Enable or Disable Presentation Settings in Windows. You can check whether presentation settings is enable (which means Disabled is selected in group policy editor).

    If it isn’t, we can enable it and try again. Please note that a restart is needed to ensure the operation is successful. If it’s enabled but the field “Turn off the screen saver” is still grey, please let me know and I will continue to find a solution.
