Outlook error - Error reading rules from the server

Hello,

When trying to modify rules in Outlook, I get the follow error and my previous rules are deleted. I also see a new rule titled "Client-only" which wasn't there previously.

I deleted my most recent rule in Outlook and closed/reopened it. I received this prompt and selected "Server".

I then got the same "error reading rules" message. However this time, one of my missing rules (Ultimus) is back and now there are two "client-only" rules.

Is there a way to resolve this to have my rules back? If there is, may I have any steps on how to get my rules back?

Thanks,

Kareem

    Hi @Kareem Culbertson

    Welcome to our forum!

According to your description, you have encountered a problem with Outlook rule management. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue:

1.Went to OWA and logged in to the mailbox Deleted newest created rule.

2.Export the rules out to local file>Delete all the rules.>Restart outlook.>Open Rules again, if you see (client-only) rules again delete them all.>Create any simple rule and save it.>Restart Outlook>Open Rules, this time you will be asked to choose which rules you want to use "client" or "server" choose client.>Import the saved rules.

3.If that doesn't work, try recreating a new Outlook profile.
