So recently I started having crashes while playing Arma 3 with the game throwing the 0xc0000005 status access violation code. I did some digging in event view and found these at the time of crashes Desktop_Screenshot_2024.07.26_-_15.57.21.10

I tried everything from BIOS update, driver updates, SFC scan now, DISM solutions, new RAM (thought it was originally a hardware problem) to no avail. I’m convinced there is an issue with the Kernelbase.dll but I also noticed the Tiworker.exe and Kernelbase.dll versions were mismatched, and I’m wondering if that can be causing an issue, along with the fact that my C drive was nearly full at the time to.

I tried using regsvr32 Kernelbase.dll to reregister it but I got a DLLregisterserver not found error when trying to run the command

From what I found online there have been suggestions to find another Kernelbase.dll from another computer to replace it with however it has to match exactly my version and I don’t have another pc to do that with or where to find such a file.

for now I have a temporary workaround where Arma 3 works on my external D drive without issue, but I’d like to fix my C drive errors before it causes major problems to

Any solutions/help?

    Hello

Seeing that you have tried many troubleshooting steps and the problem has not been solved, here are some additional suggestions that may help resolve the 0xc0000005 status access violation error in Arma 3:

    Adjust Security Settings:

Navigate to the Arma 3 installation folder (usually located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3).

Right-click on the folder, select Properties, and go to the Security tab.

Click on Edit and give all groups and profiles Full control.

Apply the changes and try running the game again.

    Try Different Memory Allocators:

Open the Arma 3 Launcher and go to Parameters > All Parameters > Advanced > Memory allocator.

Test the game with different memory allocators to see if it resolves the issue.

Delete Arma 3 Directory from AppData:

Go to C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local (you can access this by typing %localappdata% in Windows Search or pressing WinKey + R and typing it there).

Delete the “Arma 3” directory or rename it to something else (e.g., “Arma 3 - Backup”).

Open the launcher and try running the game again. The directory will be recreated.

    Change Platform to 32-bit:

Open the Arma 3 Launcher and go to Parameters > All Parameters.

Change the platform to 32-bit and add the -nologs parameter to the command line.

    Restore Default Parameters:

Open the Arma 3 Launcher and go to Parameters.

Click on Restore defaults to reset any custom settings that might be causing issues.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to collect a user mode dump, which can help analyze application crashes.
