Automatic reboot with task scheduling does not work as expected

Hi,

we have a desktop computer running Windows 11 pro which is supporting "modern standby" feature.
In "Scheduled tasks" I have added a task which shall reboot the computer daily at a certain time at night. Here is a screenshot of the export data of this task:b9b05576-692a-4dca-a543-57b07530d33a

Unfortunately, this task does not work as expected, perhaps due to "modern standby": The computer is not reactivated for reboot according to the wanted schedule. Often the reboot task is executed actually many hours later than expected, sometimes this takes place not before a user login has happened.

Any ideas for solving this problem?

Best regards, Hans-Georg

    Hi Hans,

Thanks for your post. Based on my research, there might be some compatibility between wake tasks and Modern Standby I think. Not got my head around it, as I thought one of the points of Modern Standby was that it stayed connected whilst turning off all other components. Kindly try the following methods and see if it works for you.

    1. Verify if you are using the AC adaptor when the laptop is in mainenance mode.

Modern Standby systems are capable to go into maintenance mode while on AC power. If a maintenance task occurs while on AC power, networks would connect, allowing for updates and other activities to occur."

    1. From task scheduler, set task to “Run as soon as possible after a scheduled start is missed” in the settings tab.
    2. Set expiry for task in trigger tab

    Best Regards,
