Hello,

I am looking to find more information for applying for discounts if I already have a Microsoft Defender for Endpoint licenses.

As per MS FAQ

If you already have a license for Microsoft Defender for Endpoint for Servers, you won't have to pay for that part of your Microsoft Defender for Servers Plan 1 or 2 license.

How can i identify the existing licenses available for Defender for endpoint? Ofcourse One way is through license management team but does defender for cloud portal show how many licenses are being used right now? Is there a possibility to pull a report from there?

Has anybody explored this option before and got a credit form MS. If yes can you guide me through the different steps that was taken to get the credits?

Regards

Rithin

@Kumar K, Rithin (GDC-IA) Thank you for reaching out to us, your query is more aligned towards the license team, reaching out to sales team would be ideal or approaching Customer Success Account Manager (CSAM) which you tied to your account would be ideal to help you in this scenario, however I am checking with my team if i can get more details on your ask.

In the Azure portal look under Entra ID > Licenses > All Products. Assuming you have access, you should see and Defender for Endpoint licenses here (if any). Note that end-users do not need a stand-alone license, this is only for servers.

These stand-alone licenses are purchased through a reseller. Not something you acquire unintentionally.

On the MDC side look under Environment Settings to see Defender for Servers for each subscription. Every server identified for an enabled subscription automatically gets a D4S P1 or P2 license that includes MDE.

If you are paying for both, the discount is not automatic. You will need to open a support case to resolve.
