Volume shadow copy service (VSSVC.exe) keeps starting

I'm getting VSS errors when running Veeam backups at night. The reason is that the Volume Shadow Copy service is running and something is using it. As I understand it, this service only runs when it is required the service is set on manual). It keeps starting itself and sometimes won't stop. If I kill it, the process just starts up again immediately. It's not performing a shadow copy or Veeam backup at the present time.

How else can I diagnose or identify what is causing it to run, what's using it?

Thanks.

    Hi,

    Hope you're doing well.

    1. Right-click and choose "Configure Shadow Copies", then click "Settings" --- "Schedule" to check if there is a scheduled task.
    2. Confirm that whether there is a scheduled task for shadow copies in the ‘Task Scheduler’.

    Best Regards,

There are Shadow copies scheduled but they are not scheduled to run when my backups are.
