Hi . We'd like to know whether buying Teams room licenses is just fine to replace the current licenses for continuing to use the existing VC/teams room system that an organization has in place. Because our company has bought a company and we'd like to continue to use as status quo without any additional changes being made to the system. Our logic is simple. Thay have bought a number of Teams room licenses for their VC system and devices. We would like to keep it that way by substituting existing licenses with new ones without any changes to the system or appliances could this be the case which we hope it would be. Plus we want to know whether the same logic applies to Teams phone. Our company is purchasing M365 licenses to replace already in place M365 licenses bought by the soon to be merged company. They frequently use Teams phones for communication that are registered to relevant appliances of IPT. Would purchasing M365 licenses alone suffice the smooth transition of IPT ? Meaning no extra work of re-registering every Teams phone PCs and users as such. Or should there be any additional changes to make sure they are fully and properly transferred to another party ?

    Hi @Chae

According to our official documentation, legacy licenses won't automatically transition to the new licenses. Upon expiration of a legacy license, you'll need to purchase a new Teams Rooms Pro or Teams Rooms Basic license.

If you have existing Teams Rooms Standard or Teams Rooms Premium legacy licenses, you'll need to switch to Teams Rooms Pro when your legacy licenses expire. If you have an Enterprise Agreement, you'll need to switch to Teams Rooms Pro licenses at your next renewal period. For more information, see Switching from Teams Rooms Standard and Teams Rooms Premium.
