Microphone, speakers, and aux jack don't work on my refurbished HP EliteBook 745 G6

I bought my HP EliteBook 745 G6 a couple weeks ago, and it worked up until a few days ago, where all sound just stopped working. Microphone, speakers, and any wired external sound. Weirdly enough, Bluetooth audio still works.

I've done all the basic troubleshooting, including device manager, uninstalling drivers, reinstalling drivers, updating drivers, and even using older drivers, but nothing has worked so far.

Windows shows all devices related to audio are working properly and there aren't any errors shown in the device manager.

I've done the duty of restarting services related to audio, uninstalling all apps that could, same as disabling devices and reinstalling them, but to no avail. I think it might be a phsyical, but I'm not sure what would cause all three to fail at the same time.

Check if there's a BIOS update available for your HP EliteBook 745 G6

Sometimes, BIOS updates can resolve hardware-related issues

Go to Sound settings > Device properties > Additional device properties

In the Enhancements tab, try disabling all enhancements

Run System File Checker (SFC) and Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tools

These can repair corrupted system files that might be causing the issue

Run the built-in Windows audio troubleshooter and also check Audio services.

    Hi,

Please first make sure the audio driver has been updated to the latest version. You can check for that on the HP site. Uninstall the audio device then scan for hardware changes in the device manager.

If the driver is up to date, you can give a try to the Audio Troubleshooter. Windows has a built-in audio troubleshooter that can sometimes identify and fix problems. You can find it by going to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters > Audio.

Also restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup to check if the audio device might be disabled in the BIOS.

If none of the above steps work, it might be worth reaching out to HP Support for further assistance. They might be able to provide more specific guidance or determine if it's a hardware issue.

    Best Regards,
