I use an Alienware M17 R2

I2C HID Device

Intel(R) Serial IO I2C Host Controller - A368

This device cannot start. (Code 10) A request for the HID descriptor failed./

Device ACPI\DELL093C\4&11896db&0 had a problem starting. Driver Name: hidi2c.inf Class Guid: {745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da} Service: hidi2c Lower Filters: Upper Filters: mshidkmdf Problem: 0xA Problem Status: 0xC000009E

I have tried reinstalling every single human interface, keyboard, and mouse device, disabled power management settings for every human interface, keyboard, and mouse device, ran DISM, restarted the computer after doing all of what I just mentioned, scanned for hardware changes, updated some drivers, changed some drivers, unplugged and replugged 2 different mice, clicked on let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer then hit next without selecting anything, edited the registry, etc. All of these solutions used to work, but after about 3 or 5 days, I would have to find another solution that still worked. But now none of these work. I have yet to enter the BIOS.

    Hi Antonius,

Thanks for your post. Based on my research, the 0xc00000e9 error code always has to do with the boot process for Windows. An I/O error, or input/output error, occurs when the system is unable to access a drive or disk, which means it cannot read or copy data. Because it's common, there are many reasons why the error might appear:

    • Malfunctioning external hardware or PC components.
    • Damaged input or output ports.
    • Incorrectly seated components such as a disconnected hard drive that doesn't make contact with the motherboard.
    • Improperly configured UEFI, BIOS, or CMOS settings.
    • Corrupt system files or Windows Registry problems.
    • Problems with Windows Update.
    • A boot sector virus or other malware.

As you can see, it is closely related to the hardware supplier, so it is highly recommended that you contact the touchpad supplier at first. If it is a software issue, you can refer to the following article to do the troubleshooting.
