Reset SharePoint online website to default

Office 365 business basic license.

New to SharePoint online.

New website so nothing needs saved.

The main website is a communication website.

I would like to change it to a team website.

Sounds like this would require deleting the entire website and creating a new one.

Is there any problems doing this? I'll be able to create another website right away?

Is there a way to bypass the 30 days after delete so I can reuse the name?

Thanks.

Hi @Susan Dodds,The default SharePoint root site is a communication site. The root (top-level) site for your organization can't be deleted. If you have a different site that you want to use as your root site (a communication site or modern team site that isn't connected to a Microsoft 365 group), you can replace your root site.

After you replace the root site, the URL of the replaced site will be automatically modified to https://xxxx.sharepoint.com.
