Dynamic lock unable to pair with Bluetooth connected device

I have a Yealink MP54 handset and wish to pair with my Windows 10 machine via Dynamic Lock.

The Yealink and the Win 10 device are successfully paired in Bluetooth but whenever I enable Dynamic Lock it says 'Dynamic Lock is not working because your PC has no paired device'.

Please help.

Ensure that the Yealink MP54 handset is compatible with the Dynamic Lock feature in Windows 10.

Uninstall and reinstall updated Bluetooth driver.

Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.

    Look for the following services:

    Bluetooth Support Service

    Bluetooth Audio Gateway Service

    Bluetooth Handsfree Service

Ensure these services are set to Automatic and are running.

Contact Yealink support to confirm if there is any specific configuration needed for the handset to work with Windows Dynamic Lock.

    Hi Lawrence Gatens,

Thanks for your post. Based on my research, although Dynamic lock generally works as expected, many users claim that their dynamic lock feature does not work. This may be because the dynamic lock feature is not enabled correctly, the Bluetooth driver may be outdated, damaged, or missing, the connection between the computer and the Bluetooth device you are using is lost, the Windows system file is damaged, etc.

Kindly follow the steps to narrow down the issue.

Method 1. Make Sure Dynamic Lock Is Enabled

Before turning to advanced troubleshooting steps, you need to make sure the dynamic lock feature is enabled. To confirm this, you can follow the steps below.

Step 1. Press the Windows + I key combination to open Settings.

    Step 2. Click Accounts.

Step 3. In the new window, move on to the Sign-in options tab, then make sure the Allow Windows to automatically lock your device when you’re away option is checked.

Press the Windows + I key combination to open Settings.

Method 2. Re-Pair Your Bluetooth Device

If the Bluetooth connection between your phone/tablet and your computer is disconnected or unstable, dynamic lock will not work properly. To troubleshoot Bluetooth connection issues, you can disconnect your device from your computer’s Bluetooth connection and then pair it again.

    Method 3. Update Bluetooth Driver

Whether the dynamic lock function works properly depends on the Bluetooth service. And Bluetooth functionality also relies on the correct and dated Bluetooth driver. Therefore, to eliminate the dynamic locking failure caused by the Bluetooth driver, you can try to update the Bluetooth driver from Device Manager.

Step 1. Right-click the Windows logo button to select Device Manager.

Step 2. Expand the Bluetooth category, then right-click the problematic device to select Update driver.

Step 3. Complete the driver update process according to the instructions on your screen.

    Method 4. Change the Registry

If the dynamic lock is still not working properly, you can try enabling it by editing the registry.

Step 1. Press the Windows + R keyboard shortcut to open Run.

Step 2. In the next box, type regedit and press Enter.

Step 3. In Registry Editor, navigate to this location:

    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Step 4. In the right panel, double-click EnableGoodbye. Then set up its value data to 1. After that, click OK.

Step 5. Restart your computer and check if the Windows dynamic lock not working issue persists.

    Method 5. Change Group Policy

Alternatively, if the dynamic lock is not working Windows 10, you can try to address it by editing the local group policy settings.

Step 1. Press the Windows + R key combination, then type gpedit.msc in the input box and click OK.

Step 2. In Local Group Policy Editor, navigate to the following path:

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Hello for Business

Step 3. In the right panel, double-click Configure dynamic lock factors.

Step 4. Next, select the Enabled option. After that, click Apply > OK.

    Best Regards,

    Ian Xue
