I have installed windows 2016 on a dell latitude 5590. I can not run windows update on this pc. The touchpad is not working. It does not show in devmgr and I can not force a driver update. Is there a way to get this touchpad to operate correctly with this build combo without install Windows updates?

Running Windows Server 2016 on a laptop like the Dell Latitude 5590 can indeed lead to driver compatibility issues, especially with components like touchpads.

Go to Dell's support website and download the touchpad driver for your Latitude 5590 model.

Even though it's for Windows 10, it might work with Server 2016.

If you have a driver installer, try running it in compatibility mode for Windows 10 or Windows 8.1.

    Hi,

Please open Device Manager, go to the Action menu, and select "Scan for hardware changes." This might help the system detect the touchpad. Also restart your computer, enter the BIOS/UEFI setup, and ensure that the touchpad is not disabled if there is an option for that.

If the touchpad still can't be detected, it could be a hardware issue, and you can contact Dell's support for further assistance.

    Best Regards,
