i want to know is why paint 3d is being discontinued

Paint 3D is wonderful. I use it constantly. I hope you will reconsider discontinuing it. I am concerned Paint won't have the features I need to complete my work. Now I have to learn an old app or find something else.

it's interesting, 3D printing is really just starting to take off in the craft world right as Microsoft is deciding to kill Paint 3D. I get it wasn't popular from 2017 until know, but I doubt that will still be the case in another 7 years.

As user of Paint3D, this app is what i looking for. Simple & Productive with nice functional UI. I discover this app during 2020 and always use this app to simple editing image and to view 3D for 3D printer asset. It's kind of disappoint knowing this app will be discontinued, this app have great potential. I try Paint.NET but i prefer Paint3D a lot. I hope this project can be open source, so people like me can maintain this app.

Hello,

Microsoft decided to discontinue Paint 3D because it didn’t gain much traction among users. Initially introduced in 2017, Paint 3D was meant to replace the classic Paint app and focus on 3D content creation. However, most users preferred the simplicity of the original Paint app and didn’t find much use for the 3D features.

I use the app all the time. Please don't discontinue paint 3d. There's gotta be a better solution. Please?

I know that my opinion is very controversial, but I felt like that 3D was easier to use than MS paint because of the magic select thing and I could upload other photos onto a pre existing base photo and turn it into a sticker. I do not like how I can't upload another photo as a layer to another photo on MS paint. I really hate cropping photos on MS paint. It also feels painfully hard to zoom in and out on MS paint. So I hope that we can implement former Paint 3D features into MS Paint in 2025. I really hope you get why, thanks! (sorry if this is unrelated)

Because:

It wasn't heavily used by Windows users

It wasn't being prioritized as something that the Windows team needed to work on

There are far better tools available for this kind of thing, some free

It cost more to maintain and update to the newer Win11 design than it was worth to invest in

The list can go on and on. If you want a better 3D painting program then search on the Internet for some free alternatives. Paint.Net is a popular alternative but it depends on what features you were actually using in Paint3D
