I noticed a strange situation on my new laptop. It seems to me that it can damage the laptop, but maybe I'm wrong and it's harmless. Every second, the Virtual Disk service starts and stops after a second. This continues ad infinitum.

Using the Process Explorer program, I found out that the Gigabyte Control Center program starts the Virtual Diks service. As you can see in the screenshot, three processes are started at once and immediately shut down (Diskpart.exe, Conhost.exe, vds.exe).

If I close the Gigabyte Control Center, the problem disappears, but this is a program that I need for my laptop and I use it.

The Windows Event Viewer is filled with messages - virtual disk on - virtual disk off.

If I run Windows Disk Management, the Virtual Disk service stops turning off and remains on, but as soon as I close the Disk Management window, everything starts over again.

  1. Please tell me how harmful this behaviour is to the computer. This is a new expensive gaming laptop with SSD drives, so I'm worried about it.
  2. I understand that this is a question for Gigabyte, but maybe someone here knows a solution to this problem?

-I think I found the reason I had the swap file disabled after I enabled the SwapFile the Virtual Disk service stopped starting and stopping. Two other processes that started with the Virtual Disk continued to start and stop but I think that this is a smaller problem.

Sorry, the problem is back, even with the existing swap file, the virtual disk service constantly starts and stops. So please help me to find out how dangerous this is. Is it worth looking for a solution to this problem?
