How to find a guest user in the Teams search?

Hi all,

I've been reading docs but I need confirmation to make sure I understood properly.

I have an external user that wants to talk to one of our employees.

The external user's IT cannot setup the external domain allow (in Teams admin portal > Users > External users > which external domains your users have access to.

So our solution was to make them a guest; but we can't find them in the Teams search.

Other guests account can be found, but others can't, including theirs.

What can I check to understand if it's a problem on our side? Can it be a configuration on the user's organization? If so, what can I ask them to check please?

Thank you!

    Hi @Medea , make sure that the guest user has accepted the invitation to join your organization. If the guest user has not accepted the invitation, they will not be able to access your organization's resources, including Teams. Are you able to see them in Entra ID via the Azure Portal?

    @Medea

    Here are several factors that could affect the visibility and communication with guests in Microsoft Teams. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot the issue and determine whether it's a problem on your side or something that needs to be checked on the external user's end:

    1. Guest Invitation Status:
    • Ensure that the external user has accepted the guest invitation sent to them. Sometimes, the invitation email might end up in their spam/junk folder.
    1. Check Guest User Properties:
    • In your Azure Active Directory (Azure AD), verify that the guest user's account is properly configured. Check if the account status is active and if they are assigned the appropriate user type (Guest).
    1. Teams Admin Center Settings:
    • Verify that guest access is enabled in your Teams admin center. Go to Teams admin center > Org-wide settings > Guest access and confirm that guest access is allowed. 4. External Access Settings: - Ensure that external access is properly configured. Go to Teams admin center > Org-wide settings > External access and ensure that the settings allow for communication with external users and that any necessary domains are not blocked.
