I am trying to install Vmware Workstation pro on my Windows 10 machine and I keep getting the error "Could not write value vmware-tray.exe to key \SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel."

How can I resolve this?

    Hi,

Please open registry editor and check the permissions for the key \SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. Make sure your user is allowed the Full Control permission. Also see if you can add this startup item by adding the registry key manually.

If you have antivirus software running on your computer, turn it off temporarily and try again.

    Best Regards,

    Ian Xue
