How can I permanently disable Windows Update service and better control when Update is run?

A month ago I asked and got a response, but like all the other previous answers, none of them worked, so I have to ask again.

Update just turns itself back on and runs without my permission.

I need to be able to control MY computer and when Update runs or NOT RUN.

I just lost a bunch of data in the middle of work again because Update decided to randomly take over my computer. Last time I was in the middle of bidding in an auction and Update shut off my computer and started updating, and I was unable to use my computer for over 40 minutes.

And having a schedule of a week or month doesn't work for me.

It used to be that way. Toggle: Turn Update On, Turn Update Off.

I have to press the reset button on my laptop now at least once a week because of malfunctions and my laptop is not able to hibernate.

Does nobody know how to fix this Window Update nightmare? Seriously?

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

You can control Windows Update by modifying the group policy, as follows:

    1. Use the Win+r shortcut key to open the Run bar and enter gpedit to open the Group Policy Editor.
    2. Navigate to Computer Configuration - Administrative Templates - Windows Components - Windows Update, and find the option to configure automatic updates.
    3. After double-clicking to enter, just change it to Enabled, and then configure the time for Windows Update in the options on the lower left.

If you want to disable Windows Update, just change it to Disabled, and after confirming, Windows will no longer update automatically.

I hope the information above is helpful.

    Best regards

    Zunhui
