ADF Pipeline fail monitor alerts not sending emails

we have monitor alerts setup in ADF monitor and is active in ADF currently. we aren't receiving any emails even if the pipelines fail for a while now.

Target criteria: 'Failed pipeline run metrics'

Dimension: nothing is selected for Name and FailureType (assuming will select all if nothing is selected)

Condition: Greater than

Time aggregation: Minimum

Threshold Count : 0

and the Notification is set to Email to a distribution list called sdh alerts and the email in the action group is sdhalerts@****.co.uk.

Is it any issue with the Time aggregation or threshold count

or is it to do with the Dimension: nothing is selected for Name and FailureType (assuming will select all if nothing is selected) . Is it mandatory to select the pipeline name and failure type in order to receive alert emails?

    Hello @Siva B

Firstly, it is not mandatory to select the pipeline name and failure type in order to receive alert emails. If nothing is selected for Name and FailureType, it will select all pipelines and failure types.

Secondly, the Time aggregation and Threshold Count seem to be set up correctly. The Time aggregation is set to Minimum, which means that the alert will be triggered if the minimum value of the metric is greater than the threshold.

The Threshold Count is set to 0, which means that the alert will be triggered if the metric value is greater than the threshold for any duration. It is possible that the issue is with the action group that you have set up for email notifications. Please check if the email address sdhalerts@****.co.uk is correct and if the email is not going to the spam folder.

Also, make sure that the action group is properly configured to send email notifications. If the issue persists, you can check the fired alerts list in the Azure portal to see if the alert is being triggered or not. If the alert is being triggered but you are not receiving any emails, then the issue is with the action group.

If the alert is not being triggered, then you may need to adjust the alert criteria or the threshold value. This should get you started
