Anonymous-5707222 Greetings & Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum!
Is there any way to get an on-demand charged deployment of a GPT model which would give me a guarantee that the data will not leave the European Union ? I am not a legal expert but the highlighted part in the screenshots sound a lot like the data will most likely end-up in the US which is probably not confirming to EU regulations.
As mentioned, Azure OpenAI Service, which stores all customer data at rest in the Geo selected by the customer, but for any model deployment type labeled as ‘Global,’ may process prompts and completions sent to and output by that deployment, for inferencing or fine-tuning, in any Azure OpenAI region globally. Please see Data residency in Azure for more details.
To give more context, No data is copied into the Azure OpenAI service. Please check How does the Azure OpenAI Service process data? to understand more about how the data is being processed.
Microsoft takes data privacy and security very seriously including Azure OpenAI. It is designed to adhere to GDPR regulations. For more information, see the Azure OpenAI data, privacy, and security guide. and Microsoft’s GDPR Commitments to Customers of our Generally Available Enterprise Software Products.
Your prompts (inputs) and completions (outputs), your embeddings, and your training data:
- are NOT available to other customers.
- are NOT available to OpenAI.
- are NOT used to improve OpenAI models.
- are NOT used to improve any Microsoft or 3rd party products or services.
- are NOT used for automatically improving Azure OpenAI models for your use in your resource (The models are stateless, unless you explicitly fine-tune models with your training data).
- Your fine-tuned Azure OpenAI models are available exclusively for your use.
The Azure OpenAI Service is fully controlled by Microsoft; Microsoft hosts the OpenAI models in Microsoft’s Azure environment and the Service does NOT interact with any services operated by OpenAI (e.g. ChatGPT, or the OpenAI API).
Take a look at the Microsoft Products and Services Data Protection Addendum, which governs data processing by the Azure OpenAI Service except as otherwise provided in the applicable Product Terms and Microsoft Azure Legal Information.
