Cannot deploy Tabular Model to AAS server due to invalid PostgreSQL credentials

Matthew 121 Reputation points

I am having problem with cube deployment which is built on PostgreSQL database. Every time I try to deploy the model to AAS server, I receive following error: Cannot process database. Reason: Failed to save modifications to the server. Error returned: 'The credentials provided for the PostgreSQL source are invalid. The exception was raised by the IDbCommand interface. I am only allowed to upload metadata itself.
I receive the same error message when I try to process this table on AAS instance using SQL Server Management Studio.

The model I'm trying to deploy is not complicated itself: It contains one table from PostgreSQL database with a few simple measures (No roles or relationships created just yet).

I've npgsql connector installed and I am certain the credentials I'm providing during deployment process are correct.
I am using Visual Studio 2019 Community version.

I would strongly appreciate your help,

    Hello @Matthew ,

Unfortunately, Azure Database for PostgreSQL is not a supported data source of Azure Analysis Services.

The following tables describe supported Azure data sources for Azure Analysis Services.

I would suggest you to provide feedback on the same:

All of the feedback you share in these forums will be monitored and reviewed by the Microsoft engineering teams responsible for building Azure.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you any further queries.
