Hi Narasimman, here are a few things I would like to confirm:
- Do you mean to rename the document right after downloading a copy or after the copy is uploaded?
- Did you open or do any change to the document after it has been uploaded?
- Is it Office file or other type of document?
You can check as following for basic troubleshooting:
- Open the locked document from SharePoint library in client application and then close it without modification. Try renaming the document afterwards.
- Make sure the “WebClient” service is up and running on the local server.
- Rename the copy of the document instead on local drive and then upload the copy to see the result.
