    Hi @Pluemper, Thomas

Could you please tell us which version of Office are you using now? Such as Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise.

    Was Translate function disabled?

Translate is one of Intelligent Services in Office, if you’re using the Group Policy Management tool, the related policy settings are located under User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Microsoft Office 2016\Privacy\Trust Center.

    • Allow the use of connected experiences in Office
    • Allow the use of connected experiences in Office that analyze content

    User's image

But please note, once you enable or do not configure these policy settings, not only Translate but other features such as PowerPoint Designer will be also enabled. For more, please refer to this article: Use policy settings to manage privacy controls for Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise.

    Hi @Pluemper, Thomas

    Thanks for your kind sharing.

I am glad that you find the root cause. By the way, since the Microsoft Q&A community has a policy that "The question author cannot accept their own answer. They can only accept answers by others.", and according to the scenario introduced here: Answering your own questions on Microsoft Q&A, I would make a brief summary of this thread:

    Issue Symptom:

Translate is disabled in Word and other Office apps.

    Have Tried:

Check if it is disabled by Group Policy

    • User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Microsoft Word 2016\Miscellaneous\Do not use online machine translation
    • User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Microsoft Office 2016\Privacy\Trust Center\Allow the use of connected experiences in Office.
    • User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Microsoft Office 2016\Privacy\Trust Center\Allow the use of connected experiences in Office that analyze content.

Check if it is affected via blocked IP addresses and URLs for Office

    Current Status:

Solved, missing network configuration for office.com causes this issue.
