How do I change permissions for an MSWord email attachment sent with Do Not Forward

Question

I sent an email with Do Not Forward encryption with a MS Word document attached for review/feedback. I have received replies with document updated (eg comments and edits with changes tracked), but now I don't seem to be able to update the Permission setting in the document to allow access by others to view/update. How can I solve this?

It seems that you are having trouble updating the permission settings on a document that was sent with "Do Not Forward" encryption. Please take the following steps:

1. Change Document Protection Settings: In Microsoft Word, go to the Review>Restrict Editing. If the document is protected, you will see an option to stop protection. Click on it and enter the password if prompted.
2. Update Permissions: After removing the protection, you can update the permissions. Go to the File>Info>click on Protect Document, from there, you can choose "Restrict Access" and update the permissions to allow others to view and edit the document.
3. Resend the Document: Once you have updated the permissions, save the document and resend it to the intended recipients with the new permissions.
