I had notepad++ 6.7.7 installed from network source earlier, now upgraded to 7.8.6. Network source of 6.7.7 is found nowhere now. When I try to open an .sql file inserted in a word document, word always chooses notepad 6.7.7 and the file never opens, it tries to find the .msi source of notepad 6.7.7 which is found nowhere. how to change the default app that word uses to open an .sql file?

Generally, the default app that Word calls to open a file is the same default app as you set for this file type in Windows.

Are there any other .sql files stored on your local computer?
Please right click it > Propertities > General > Change > More apps > Look for another app on this PC > Locate to the executable program of Notepad++ 7.8.6 > Apply > OK.

Any questions please let me know.
