Azure-Migrate or MAP Toolkit?

We have noted the Azure Migrate tool may do the same processes as the Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit (MAP) toolkit, and that Microsoft even recommends the Azure Migrate tool, as well:

Microsoft recommends that you use Azure Migrate to simplify your migration process. Azure Migrate provides discovery, assessment, and migration capabilities for applications, infrastructure, and data. You can also inventory installed applications, perform application dependency mapping, and generate cost projections. Azure Migrate link: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-gb/services/azure-migrate/

Can Microsoft Azure Support elaborate on whether the MAP toolkit does the same cloud/application compatibility assessmement as the Azure Migration Tool, which is recommended by Microsoft on the MAP toolkit site? I mean, if we have physical and virtualized servers and want to evaluate them all for VM upgrades, Cloud assessment and OS upgrades (both Microsoft and Nix), what is the best tool here, Azure Migrate Tool or the MAP toolkit?

    Hello @PatrickJamesBurwell
    Welcome Microsoft Q&A community forum!

Please be advised that the MAPS toolkit is no longer supported. Customers should use Azure Migrate. Except OS upgrades, the features listed are covered by Migrate.

If you still plan / want to use MAPS, am afraid to say our CSS team will not be able to provide any support.
