Mouse not working

Hi, I have the microsoft arc touch mouse. The first thing I did once open, was that I put the batteries in and turn it on, plug the usb into my Dell Inspiron 13 and it didn't respond. However the mouse appears on the microsoft mouse and keyboard center, but the mouse it self shows that is turned on but it doesn't do anything. I have tried using diferrent usb ports, changing the batteries. Someone know what else can I do o what is the problem?

    Hi,
    1.Are you capable to use this mouse for other computers?

    2.Is there any pointer icon when you found the mouse is turned on?
    Please also check if the driver has been updated to the latest under device manager as well as the mouse status (disable or enable)
