There is a vulnerability against Microsoft 3D Viewer that was released in October.

CVE-2020-17003

<https://msrc.microsoft.com/update-guide/en-US/vulnerability/CVE-2020-16918>

The "solution" is to click on a link that takes you
<https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/3d-viewer/9nblggh42ths?activetab=pivot:overviewtab>

The link is a pivot that opens the Microsoft Store.

I am the admin of an AD Domain that does not have access to the Microsoft Store.

We are currently on Windows 10 v. 1909.

Is there a way to update Microsoft 3D Viewer from version 5.1902.20012.0 to 7.2009.29132.0 without needing direct access to the internet, or to the Microsoft Store?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

    I’ve checked and solution for CVE-2020-17003 is indeed updating 3D Viewer to a newer version.

    As for how to update it without access to Microsoft Store, I suppose that you can upgrade your OS to version 2004 or 20H2. Without updating my 3D Viewer before, it’s 7.2020.15012.0 on my Windows 10 v. 2004.

    If you choose to upgrade your OS version, you can make it automatically or manually. If you have internet access, please go to Settings->Update & Security->Windows Update. If you don’t have internet access, please try to find one with that and follow instructions in Download Windows 10 to create installation media to install Windows 10 on your PC.

    But we all know upgrading is time-consuming. If your colleagues also need to update 3D Viewer, upgrading should be the last choice. Hope you have Configuration Manger to deploy 3D Viewer. If you don’t have Configuration Manager, I suppose you could apply for the permission to use Microsoft Store to update 3D Viewer if you don’t want to undergo upgrading.
