Using GPU in Azure WVD environment

Hello All,

I have two Standard NV4as_v4 (4 vcpus, 14 GiB memory) VM's in a WVD environment, I have added the AmdGpuDriverWindows Extension to both of them. I look in the Device manager and it is listed under Display Adapters as "Radeon Instinct MI25 MxGPU",

when I run dxdiag to see if it is being used, it is coming back with the "Microsoft Remote Display Adapter".

They are Windows 10 Enterprise for Virtual Desktops 64-bit (10.0, Build 19041)

Am I missing something or do i need to enable the VM to use the AMD GPU extension?

To enable GPUs in the WVD session, it requires some configuration on the host VM and also ensure that you are connecting with the appropriate client.
Please check this document for guidance on Configure GPU for Windows Virtual Desktop.

Hello,

Thank you for your response.

I have done added the settings in the link you sent, and the issue still remains the same. I have confirmed that the settings are being enabled with a gpresult.

I am using the Microsoft Remote Desktop Client Version 1.2.1524.0,

Apologies for the delay in response.

If you are running Windows 10 build 1903 or higher then dxdiag will show no information in the 'Display' tab. Please use the 'Save All Information' option at the bottom and the output file will show the information related to AMD MI25 GPU.

Hi, I have the same exact issue as described above. We can see the AMD GPU, but it does not seem to be fully operational. After the VM has been running for a while (couple of hours), the performance of the GPU/VM is getting quite bad (slow, black screens etc.). After a reboot, performance is restored again for some time. I've included some screenshots with (hopefully) relevant information.
