How much free disk space did you have on the old drive?
Cannot restore OS image on the HDD of the same model
Hi,
I have got puzzled a bit with a situation.
Windows 10 Pro (Rus) 64bit
Версия: 2004
Сборка: 19041.685
I backup OS image with Windows 7 on Windows 10, which is on HDD Seagate 1GB (ST1000DM003), whatever...
Then I bought EXACTLY THE SAME model HDD (ST1000DM003) to test my restore process. I disconnected original HDD, connected brand new HDD, boot from system restore CD and started the process of system image restore from external HDD. Soon after process started it issued and critical error, saying that the size of that new HDD is not sufficient to restore OS image on it.
Any ideas how is that possible and how to handle it ?
Thank you!
Roman.

Hi,The partition table of new HDD inside the computer will have a read only attribute somehow. We have to use diskpart to remove the readonly attribute:
select disk 0
online disk
attribute disk clear readonly
Hope above information can help you.============================================
