Good Afternoon,

We are currently working on an upgrade project to upgrade our current Lync server environment to Skype for Business 2019 (on-premises).
We would like to implement two new Skype for Business 2019 servers with enabled monitoring and archiving features.

We have already purchased the following licenses:

2x Skype for Business Server 2019.
1x SQL Server 2019 Standard
125x Skype for Business Plus CALs

According to our solutions partner, we'd need to purchase 125 additional SQL Server 2019 User CALs to be able to use the monitoring / archiving features.
Is this correct? As we were thinking that the above mentioned licenses should be sufficient for 125 SfB 2019 users.

Thanks,
Kind regards,

    Hi @Stefan Maksimovic

According to my knowledge, the license you have is enough.

The following link shows the licensing requirements for Skype for Business 2019. You can refer to it:

You better ask a Microsoft sales partner or licensing export, a community forum is not the right place for licensing question

But by the Lync licensing paper
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/8/c/7/8c7c30da-0386-4698-8bbb-367eac8c4352/lync%20licensing%20guide%20february%202013.pdf
page 10 I would say: If you are not using the free SQL Server Express edition, then you have to purchase additional licenses for SQL Server

    Hello Olaf,

Thanks for providing me with the licensing guide.
Would it perhaps be possible to provide me with a similar licensing guide, but for Skype for Business Server 2019 instead?

    Thanks!
    Kind regards.
