Alternative netbios domain name in server 2016

I have tried this link to set alternative netbios domain name alternative-netbios-name-in-server-2008 in server 2016 and using the command
"netdom computername dc /enumerate" I can see that alternate netbios domain name is listed.
But when I used the LDAP query to get netbios domain name, it is not showing the alternative netbios domain name in the LDAP response.
LDAP query to get netbios domain name: (&(objectcategory=crossref)(netbiosname=*))

And when I tried to login using alternative netbios domain name, I am getting "invalid credentials" error.

So my question is, Can we set multiple netbios domain name to a single domain controller?

    Hello,

Thank you so much for posting here.

As per my understanding and tests, if we run "netdom computername currentname /Add: secondname.domain.com" command, it will add an alternate name for the domain controller or member server.

If I tried to login using alternate name, I am getting “the account or the password is not correct" error.

As mentioned in the link, "Running "netdom computername currentname /Add: secondname.domain.com" adds a second DNS entry, but does nothing for Netbios. Infact the syntax of the command states "new-alternate-dns-name""

I researched about whether we could set multiple netbios domain name to a single domain controller, but failed to get any useful information. Below is the discussion about how to rename domain netbios name.

    Hello Hrishikesh Tak,

You are welcome. Thank you so much for your kindly reply.

Typically, the NetBIOS domain name is the subdomain of the DNS domain name. For example, if the DNS domain name is contoso.com, the NetBIOS domain name is contoso. If the DNS domain name is corp.contoso.com, the NetBIOS domain name is corp.

As for our question, since there is no related useful information could be found, we think multiple Netbios domain names could not be set. We do hope someone would be so kind to clarify the information or share their knowledge or experience here.

Thank you so much for your support.

    Best regards,
    Hannah Xiong
