KB5030269 - Israel daylight saving time Bug

Hello,

In the case of the KB mentioned above, where a bug will make the DST begin on the 22.03.2024 instead of the correct date 29.03.2024.

The bug is relevant to Windows Server 2012R2 and 2016, which we have a few of but our Domain Controllers are Windows Server 2019.

What to expect ? Does the PDC which is supposed to be the authoritative time source for its domain overrule this bug ?

    Hello David Yaranov,

Thank you for posting on the Microsoft Community Forum.

    Improvements about KB5030269

This cumulative security update includes improvements that are part of update KB5029312 (released August 8, 2023). This update also makes improvements for the following issues:

    Reference:

September 12, 2023—KB5030269 (Monthly Rollup) - Microsoft Support

In the month of May 2023, our internal Customer Support team reported an error, which was affecting Daylight Saving Time (DST) in Israel for events that were scheduled for March 2024 and onwards. This was resulting in the meeting times in Israel being off by one hour. On further investigation, it was realized that it was happening due to a missing registry in one of the internal systems.

To ensure that this issue is proactively resolved, Microsoft released the Windows updates listed below to account for the correct DST changes:

    • Daylight Saving Time in Israel will start on Friday, March 29, 2024 at 2:00:00 AM local standard time
      • The clocks will be turned forward one hour to 3:00:00 AM local daylight time.
    • Daylight Saving Time in Israel will end on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at 2:00:00 AM local daylight time.
      • The clocks will be turned backward one hour to 1:00:00 AM local standard time.

This change is available in the August 2023 Cumulative Update preview released on August 22, 2023, for the 20H2 and the newer versions of Windows 10 and 11.

All other supported Windows versions received the update as part of the September 2023 monthly quality update scheduled to release on September 12, 2023.

Note: If you don’t install these Windows updates released in August 2023 and September 2023, you will not see the correct time change schedule.
