Dear all,
for the last 10 years, the RSS Viewer Web Part in SP2010/2013/2016 worked for us. After installing the updates from the 12/2020 Patchday, we have the following problem with all existing and and all new created RSS Viewer Web Parts: "An unexpected error occurred processing your request. Check the logs for details and correct the problem."
Any idea?

Samir 1 Reputation point2020-12-18T09:56:00.097+00:00 We're seeing same behavior after December Patch as well. All patches were applied, and RssViewerWebPart is now shoing same error message. This is happening on our SharePoint 2010 as well.

sadomovalex 3,636 Reputation points2020-12-16T20:16:01.903+00:00 on December 2020 CU page it is said that it is necessary to install 2 patches to fully patch SP2016 - did you install them both?
Internally RSS viewer web part performs http calls to specified RSS url. If it uses https issue may be related with TLS version support. But it is only a guess. In order to say for sure check log (try to search by RSS url used in your RSS viewer web part and find correlation id. After that review filter records by correlation id in ULSViewer tool and locate actual problem)-

2020-12-16T20:44:59.297+00:00 We install in general from this source: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/sharepoint-updates => for 2016 in December: KB 4486753 + KB 4486721, 16.0.5095.1000 => two files: sts2016-kb4486753-fullfile-x64-glb.exe and wssloc2016-kb4486721-fullfile-x64-glb.exe.

2020-12-17T08:44:36.79+00:00 Yes, we tried this already, but it didn't work, deleting and re-creating of an RSS web part doesn't help.
